Day of Continuous Prayer for Marriage & Family Life

—————– Parish (2)

——————————————– is our parish day for prayer for Marriage & Family Life.

Ask and you will receive; search and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

These words of Jesus in the Gospel form much of the basis for the prayer and the activity of his followers in every generation of the Church. We need to hear and listen to them today, especially in the areas of Marriage and Family Life.

We are very conscious of the increasing incidence of marriage break-up in our society. Many of us are touched at a personal level or at least through family and friends by the pain and trauma that this causes to couples and their children. We can despair that anything can be done to turn things around.

Thank God we have the power of prayer to give us hope. On this day each month there are people committed to praying for Marriage and Family Life for an hour. This is organised in such a way that there is someone praying all the time during the day and night. Other parishes and communities pray in the same way during the days and nights of the rest of the month. We can truly call this Continuous Prayer for Marriage and Family Life.

Having this prayer going on all the time can be a source of consolation for anyone who is suffering in any way, especially in these important relationships. It can also be a source of courage, knowing that you are not on your own.

This day is also a call to the whole parish to pray for Marriage & Family Life at home, at school, at any Mass that is celebrated on the day, at any prayer group meetings that might take place on ——- of the month etc.

If you would like to undertake an hour each month you can do so at any time. (Arrangements will be made to facilitate this)

Jesus said: “I am with you always.”
