Day of Continuous Prayer for Marriage & Family Life
——————————————- is our parish day for prayer for Marriage & Family Life.
Synod on Marriage & Family Life
Rome, October 5-19, 2014
In 2013 a Questionnaire was circulated to every Catholic Diocese throughout the world. In turn, this was made available to every parish of the Catholic Church. The Questionnaire was seeking the experience of as many people as possible on the theory and practice of Marriage and Family in the realities of today’s world.
On October 5-19, 2014 the second stage of this deep reflection on Marriage and Family will take place in Rome at the first session of a special Synod of Bishops from around the world. The work of this Synod will be greatly influenced by the responses that were received to the Questionnaire.
But it does not end there! The results of these deliberations of the Synod will be worked on in a variety of ways in the months ahead. This will lead to a second session of the Synod in 2015. This session will produce many conclusions for us as Catholics to take on board. But even then there will be more to work on.
We cannot afford to leave all this in Rome. It is the responsibility of every Catholic and every Catholic community to become involved in this reflection. It is aimed at restoring Marriage and Family to the heart of the Church’s life and that of society.
This month we can get involved with the Synod by making it a part of our day of prayer for Marriage and Family Life and of our prayers throughout the month. And we can let our prayer make us more open to what begins to emerge so that it becomes more part of our own lives and the life of our parish community. There are great times ahead!
