THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

A light in the darkness

Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world.” These extraordinary words were said to very ordinary people, and they were meant! They are being said again today to us, the present disciples of Jesus, and they are still meant! Salt is used to season food. As the Church, our task is to give a good taste to the world in which we live. Light shows the way and also brings comfort and joy. These also are our tasks for the world in which we live, and how much our world needs these at present. We do all this first and foremost through the way we live in our homes, by making our relationships there ever more alive and joyful. We also respond to Christ in our faith community by developing the Church as a welcoming community where everyone is treasured and cared for; where everyone is helped to know how much they are loved by God and how precious they are in his sight.

Morning Prayer, when together

Father, watch over your family, bless our marriage, and keep us safe in your care for all our hope is in you. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, our God, may the love you give us for each other nourish our lives and the lives of those around us. May we become a sacrament of eternal life. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

God our Father, you make us one in Christ in our sacrament of marriage. Help us to bring your salvation and joy to the entire world. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: What special thing would you like your wife/husband to do for you this week? Tell her/him.

For others: Think of some group that is working for the homeless. How could you help them this week?
