The Couple that Prays Together Stays Together.

 Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

 September 9th – 15th 2018

 God does all things well.

“He (Jesus) makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak.” In the Gospels we can hear a real sense of awe among the people who witnessed the miracles of Jesus. It wasn’t just for the fact that he cured people but also it was because of the wonderful gentleness and compassion that he showed towards those who were suffering. That same power and those same qualities of his love are there for us today. They are given to us to transform the quality of life in our homes and community. We will know that we have been touched by him this week if we let our ears be opened to hear the needs of those in our homes and community and respond to them. Equally we will know his touch if we let our tongues be loosened to speak to one another words of love, of praise, of comfort, of encouragement.

 Morning Prayer, when together

God our Father, you redeem us

and make us your children in Christ.

Look upon us, give us true freedom,

and bring us to the inheritance you promised.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart

God of peace and love,

may the offering of our love in marriage

bring you praise and worship

and make us one with you.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

 Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, your word and your love

give us food and life for our journey.

May our sacrament of marriage

lead us to share the life of your Son forever.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: In what ways could you have greater freedom in your expressions of love for your wife/husband? Work on those this week.

For others: This week think about and pray for those who are in prison. In what ways do you need to face any prejudice in relation to them?
