 Fullness of redemption

Jesus said: “Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother.” We so often associate the will of God with things that go wrong. If someone dies, or has a bad accident, or there is a break-up in a marriage etc we try to console ourselves or others by saying that it is the will of God, as if God causes these tragedies. The will of God is always about what is best for us, like at the time of a death or illness that we would take care of one another so that these traumas would not destroy us. God’s will is for a husband and wife to grow in their love and affection every day; for parents to love their children by giving them their time and attention; for us to take care of the poor in our community; to support those who are broken and to rejoice with those who are celebrating. Then we are Christ’s brother and sister and mother. What a privilege we have!

Morning Prayer, when together

Lord, guide the course of world events

And, through our married love give the Church

the joy and peace of serving you in freedom.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart.

God our Creator, we thank you for giving us to each other.

May our efforts to love each other more fully in our marriage

bring glory to your name

and assure us of eternal life.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

 Evening/Night Prayer together.

God of salvation,

may we experience your presence with us each day,

and may we know your love drawing us to each other

in our married love.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week.

For your marriage: In what ways has your love relationship grown dull?

How could you refresh your romance this week?

For others: Take some time this week to let nature speak to you as a couple about the glory of God.
