THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.
Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.
January 10th – 16th 2021The Baptism of Jesus “You are my Son, the beloved, my favour rests on you.” Those wonderful words, spoken to Jesus on the occasion of his Baptism in the Jordan, are spoken to each one of us because of our baptism into him. Just listen to God speak those words from his heart into your heart now: “you are my daughter, my son, the beloved, my favour rests on you.” Our major task is to live out that love of God in our vocation. For you as a couple committed in love, make your life together full of the joy of God’s love. Single people, religious, priests, live out the same vocation of love in different ways but for the same purpose, to fill the world with the presence and the love of God. As a community of faith, the parish is a gathering of all these vocations so that, working with one another, we can radiate that same love to all those around us. Morning Prayer, when together Almighty, eternal God, when the Spirit descended upon Jesus at his baptism in the Jordan, you revealed him as your own beloved Son. Keep us, your children born of water and the Spirit, faithful to our calling. We ask this through Christ our Lord. During the day, when apart Lord, we celebrate the revelation of Christ your Son as our Lord and Saviour and our Brother. Accept the gift of our love for one another and let it become one with his love. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Evening/Night Prayer together Lord, you love us and care for us with tenderness. May we hear your Son with faith and become your children in name and in fact. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Questions for Action for the Week For your marriage: What does it mean to you that your marriage is a Sacrament and is a vital vocation in the Church today? For others: Think about and pray for your Godparents this week. If you are a Godparent, contact your Godchild this week and tell her/him of your love.
